Obedience Training Tips

One animal that reigns above all else on my list is a dog. Dogs have always meant a lot to me. I grew up with a family that was always into animals. When I was born, my Mom and Dad already had two cats, a bird, and a hamster that I fondly remember running around my room when I was little.

Animals are treasures to most people and can add such immense joy to a person’s life. Whenever I am feeling down, an animal has the power to boost my spirits as they offer unconditional love. They never judge you for anything as humans do, such as looks or where you are at in life; they just want you to pet and care for them.

I always recommend to people that buying a pet is so important, but it also takes someone who is ready to put in the work. When I was 7, my parents bought a dog for our family for the first time, and while, in my opinion, they are the best animal to own, they also need to be taken care of the most.

Dog training is a very important aspect of owning a dog, because a dog that is not trained is not a great dog for your home, or to be around other people. It is something to take very seriously and you need to implement training from the puppy stage.

Obedience training tips are all over the Internet and they are not hard to find; you just need to know where to look. Through this article I am going to lead you towards one book that I think you should read as it has helped me immensely in the training of my new dog

My new dog

Before I get into the obedience training tips I’ve learned I just want to share with you my recent experience and why I decided to research more on how to train dogs. Two years ago, I bought my first dog on my own. Before, I always had my parents’ help, but now being in my late 20’s, I felt I could handle the responsibility of having one on my own.

Now, I made the mistake a lot of people make when they buy their first dog: They choose cuteness over how obedient the dog will be. I was at my local pet store and they had the cutest Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies! I simply had to have one and I bought one then and there!

I have never been more excited about a purchase in my entire life and I could not wait to bring her home. However, I did not realize something unique to this type of breed: they are some of the most hyperactive dogs on the planet! I learned this too quickly! Lucy (that’s what I called her) began running around the house like crazy and ripping up every single shoe I owned when I was out of the house. Even when I played with her for hours, she never lost her energy and just wanted to keep going.

What was worse is she seemed to start learning how to bark, and every time someone would ring the doorbell or I would be on the phone, she would just start howling. It was cute at first, but after a while it just became more and more annoying. I simply did not know how to properly train a puppy. I had never done it before and I had always taken it for granted.

I always thought that it would just come naturally and dogs just are always born knowing the basic commands of “Sit,” and “Stay.” The truth is: they don’t. They must learn! I looked online for obedience training tips for my new puppy and tested out various techniques.

I am happy to say that eventually I did find something that worked for me (I will get into that more later) and now Lucy is one of the most well-behaved dogs I have ever met. I take pride in her abilities and am so happy to call her my own. Whenever we go on walks, she is polite to strangers and more importantly, polite to other dogs. She never growls, never bites, and always just wants to play!

There are so many tools and tricks that people can use nowadays to begin training their dogs. With so many available to choose from on the market today, it can be quite a difficult task to know which one works and which one doesn’t. Ever since I bought Lucy and trained her to the best of my ability, I made it my mission to buy as many dog “training” products as possible and test them out to see what one you should buy and what one you should not buy.

I know how expensive dogs can be and that costs add up, especially in the puppy stage. It is my goal to point you in the right direction and help you avoid products that are a complete waste of money. I think through using what I’ve learned I can help you in your journey of owning a dog. It can be frustrating and there will be moments where you will wish you had never bought a dog (believe me, one time I came home and she had eaten my new pair of dress shoes that cost me over $500)! But things will look up, I promise you!

What I have used to train

A place that I have always resorted to find obedience training tips is the “Secrets to Dog Training” Program by Dan Stevens. This program was created by Dan Stevens from his years of research on 100% effective techniques that work.

He found that for years every bit of information on obedience training was out there but never put all together in an easy-to-follow format. It can be so difficult to train a dog and to solve their behavior issues you must find the best training tools that are available to you.

This may seem like an easy task, but it is not. There are thousands of training programs across the world, and maybe a few around your own neighborhood. However, with the rise of the Internet, there are thousands of videos and programs to help you train your dog and teach them the obedience they most desperately need. For the next bit of the article, I am going to delve into the “Secrets to Dog Training” book, and why it brought me so much joy and was essential in training my dog to the best of my ability.

All About the Secrets to Dog Training Book

This book has over 250 pages that are guaranteed to help you to train your dog. It will allow you to first off, fully understand your dog. This is crucial to training because if you can’t understand a dog’s behaviour, you will never be able to be their master.

Instead of reaching out to pay for a dog whisperer, this book will teach you to become a dog whisperer yourself, and in the end, know exactly the thoughts your pet is having. If you understand their thoughts, and can connect to them, soon you will be able to figure out the best way to command your pet.

Another step the book investigates is what it truly means to care for your dog and how important it is in obedience training. There are too many techniques that require you to use physical abuse and shock collars to train your dog. If no care goes into training your dog, your dog will not want to work with you.

Dogs are just like children. Imagine, as a child, if you parents were constantly abusive and harming you if you did something wrong (even if you couldn’t understand what you were doing wrong). Would you want to make it easy for them? Of course not; you would want to fight back! You would want to stand up against your parents. This is the same for a dog and its master. If a dog is not cared for and feeling great, the dog will not want to please its owners.

To settle your dog, and make them listen to you, you must make sure they are cared for by you. Feed them well, rub their bellies, and make them happy. This will open your dog to listen to you and respect you.

Thirdly, you must earn the respect of your dog and show them who’s boss around the house. Dogs are pack animals. What that means is that they crave a leader from when they are puppies.

Dogs have descended from wolves, who are still pack animals, and in wolf packs, there is always one wolf that is in charge. You must start to think about your house like a pack. Your whole family are wolves in that pack, and you must be the pack leader. You must earn the respect of your puppy from a young age, and show them that they must listen to you.

This should never be done through physical abuse or loud yelling, but by rewarding them when they do good and by taking things away from them if they disobey. The Secrets to Dog Training Book goes through exactly how to become that pack leader, and how important it is for your dog’s life.

What does it come with?

When you purchase “The Secrets to Dog Training” program, you not only receive an eBook of tips for obedience training, but a whole lot more! You get the audiobook as well, that you can take with you anywhere. In this day in age, especially if you drive in traffic, reading may not be the most convenient option. So audiobooks are a great alternative.

Another item that comes with your purchase is all the information in the eBook put into a video training program. Reading and listening to instructions is one thing, but most of us need the visual representation to truly grasp what to do. That is why this video program to so integral to getting the most out of “The Secrets to Dog Training,” and why they have included it in the program.

You will witness, first hand, expert dog trainers dealing with disobedient dogs, using the techniques outlined in the book. From this, you will learn exactly how to act and what to say as you increase the obedience of your dog.

There is even more that comes with the program! Also included is the “Secrets to Becoming the Alpha Dog” eBook, which outlines exactly what I was talking about before: becoming the leader of your dog’s pack.

Dogs always are looking for an “alpha dog” that they can follow and learn from. This eBook focuses on this one aspect of obedience training and it focuses primarily on what goes on inside a dog’s brain. It is basically a psychology book for dogs to help you process and understand what it means to be an alpha dog, and the great things it can do for your dog.

Lastly, and probably the most important addition, you also receive an unlimited amount of consultations done online by dog training professionals. In the past, I have bought dog-training books and have tried so hard to implement certain strategies outlined in the book. But sometimes they just haven’t worked for me, or I’ve had a hard time understanding exactly what to do. This is why these online consultations are priceless.

You get to work with the writer of the book and his entire team to get down to the root of your dog’s obedience problems. This is invaluable information that is right at your fingertips! Imagine having a teacher with you every step of the way!

This is my favorite tool, and I have used it repeatedly when I trained my dog. If you are confused about a part of the book, or if your dog just is not becoming more obedient, turn to this resource and you will be given so many more obedience training tips.

At the end of the day, this will also save you a lot of money, as it comes with the whole program. People spend so much money on their dogs, that it can get overwhelming. With these online consultations, you won’t ever have to hire a professional dog trainer in real life. You also won’t have to go through hundreds of Google searches to find out what works and what doesn’t.

So, on top of the main book of “The Secrets to Dog Training,” you also get everything listed above for one incredibly low price. If you want to see more and fully get an understanding of what you would be getting check out: http://www.kingdomofpets.com/dogobediencetraining

One other thing to note is that all of this comes with a 60-day “no questions asked” priority guarantee- that is so important to me. There are too many schemes online that are scams, and that won’t help you train your dog. At least with this training book, if it does not work for your dog, or if you don’t think it has been worth it, you can get a full refund.

That is an amazing resource and it also boosts their credibility in my eyes. They believe so much in their own product, that they are willing to risk losing money if their clients don’t like the product! Clearly, not many people have requested refunds, as they are still a business running today. It is so easy to order the book and to have all this information readily available to you. I recommend going to the website and reading more about it to make your decision.

Conclusion

One thing I want to leave you with is something that is so important to me that took me a while to figure out. Are you ready for it? Every dog is different. Now, I know you may have just rolled your eyes, and that you already know this, but I want you to really think about it for a second.

Just like humans, every single dog is different. Even if they are in the same litter and came from the exact same mom and dad, they have distinct characteristics and traits that are integral in making them who they are.

My main example of this is I have fostered many dogs, and one time I was fostering two sheepdogs that were born at the exact same time. I got them when they were two years old, and at first I had a hard time telling them apart, but within a few days, it was too easy! They were COMPLETELY different!

One had an aggressive personality and was hyper all the time and wanted to play. He would run around the house all day and it seemed his energy was endless. The other, a girl, was the opposite. She was gentle and sweet, and valued her sleep most of the time. She would like to go on long walks and never pulled on the leash.

Even though she seemed more of the angel, I loved them both the same because they were so different. Most people think that a certain breed will always act a certain way and that is simply not the case. Yes, all breeds are different, but all dogs within a certain breed are extremely different. Once you begin to understand this, you will be well on your way to understanding and implementing obedience training tips.

Why do you need to know this? The answer is simple. I am just going to be straight up and warn you that one obedience training technique that works for every dog around you may not work for your dog, and you know what? That is COMPLETELY okay!

It can take you months to figure out what works for your own dog, but that is what makes them special. Why would you want an animal that is just like everyone else’s? I won’t pretend that it is not going to be frustrating. It definitely will be! I’m just saying, do not give up if a certain training style is not working for you.

There are endless obedience training tips that are on the Internet right now and I encourage you to keep looking, and keep reaching out to animal professionals. Even before buying a dog, do you research on the breed you are buying and their usual personality traits. This will prepare you in advance for how to speak to your dog, and what is the best way to go about training them.

I love animals and it makes me so happy when someone takes the time to research how to properly train their pet. Too many people have untrained dogs that really stain the entire animal’s reputation. It is so important that you have taken this first step and you are well on your way to having a pet that respects you, and that you will love forever. I wish you all the best on your continued path in owning a dog!
